We encourage all visitors to register with Great American Shops, although registration is not required for shoppers.  In order to sell on our platform you are required to create an account by providing use with at least your name, email address, user name, and a password.  The registration forms require users to give us accurate contact information that help us better serve you.  Your name and email address may be used to send you information about our company, product updates, special offers, and newsletters. You understand that by creating an account to sell on our platform,  Great American Shops and others visiting our platform may be able to identify you by your profile on your Shop Owners page, review and rate your products and customer service and you agree to allow Great American Shops to use this information in accordance with this Privacy Policy and our then-current Terms of Use, if any.

Information about you

When you (a buyer and/or shop owner (this is what we call our sellers) register to purchase or sell products and services through Great American Shops.com we ask for information such as your name, e-mail address, mailing address and contact details. Great American Shops.com then keeps a record of this information.

If you (a buyer and/or seller) place an order with us and elect for us to store your credit or debit card details, Great American Shops.com will not keep a record of those details.  All payments are transacted by our World Class Payment processors Paypal and Stripe.  For more information about how credit and debit card details are stored and used by Great American Shops.com, please see ‘how we protect information’ below.

We keep a record of any purchase you make from any shop owners at MyAmericanShops.com. This means our payment processors Paypal and Stripe (in some instances) we can help to deal with any queries or problems you may have, and also so we can ensure that any information that we send to you is relevant.

We keep a record of any e-mail correspondence you send us, so we can track any problems or concerns you’ve had with any of the partners’ stores on our website.

If you contact Great American Shops.com by telephone (via our customer service center or otherwise) we may record, store and use that call for future training or business purposes. This includes, without limitation, use for the purpose of dispute resolution and/or complaints management.

We’ll also ask you questions at registration, and from time to time by email, that will give us information that will be used to improve your experience of shopping at Great American Shops.com. Third-Party Services

Great American Shops has engaged best in class third-party service providers Paypal and Stripe to perform many of the services related to payment processing, including card processing, currency exchange, identity verification, fraud analysis and regulatory compliance.

Great American Shops partners with licensed payment processors Paypal and Stripe to facilitate card payments and other payments and the disbursement of funds to sellers. The provider and processing time for your payment will vary based on the country in which you’re located. If there are insufficient funds in your bank account when our provider processes the payment for your purchase, Great American shops reserves the right to contact you directly and to seek payment. Great American Shops may share your personal or transactional information with those third-party service providers when it’s necessary to process payments.

By using a third-party service, you may also be subject to an agreement with the third-party User Agreements  If Great American Shops receives notice that your shop’s content or activity violates a third party’s service agreement, we may at our sole discretion take action against your account to comply with their policies. Such actions may include canceling a transaction, disabling listings from your shop, suspending your selling privileges, or removing certain payment methods.

Great American Shops Rights and Responsibilities

Great American Shops payment functionality may be made available, modified, or discontinued by us at any time without notice and is subject to the limitations in Great American Shops Term and Conditions.  As a security measure, we may impose transaction limits on buyers and sellers. For example:

  • We may impose limits relating to the value of any transaction, deposit, or adjustment, or limits relating to the cumulative value of all transactions, deposits, or adjustments during a period of time.
  • We may also impose limits related to the number of transactions per day or other period of time. We will not be liable to a seller: (a) if we do not proceed with a transaction, deposit, or adjustment that would exceed any limit established by us, or (b) if we permit a buyer to withdraw from a transaction.
  • Great American Shops may refuse service of our Payment Services to anyone, for any reason, at any time.
  • Great American shops reserves the right to decline transactions that we believe to be high risk, fraudulent, or in violation of Great American Shops Terms and Conditions.
How we use your personal data

We may monitor and review communications between you and our partners on our Content Management System (CMS), solely for the purposes of ensuring that your orders are managed appropriately by our partners and our customer service team, and in accordance with the terms and conditions that we have in place with our partners.

Storing your credit and debit card details

If you have elected to store your credit or debit card details with Great American Shops.com those details will appear automatically on the Payments page when you login and proceed to purchase a product with us. To ensure the security of your credit and debit card details we mask your credit or debit card number on the Payments page.  Only the last four digits of your credit or debit card number, the expiry date of that credit or debit card, the name (as it appears on the credit or debit card) and card type will be visible to you on the Payments page.  Of course, we use all of your credit or debit card information to process your order but we do not display this information on the Payments page in order to ensure that no-one can accidentally see it.

Require a CV2 (back of card security) number

We will ask you to enter your CV2 number even when using the stored card function.

If you would like to revise the credit and debit card details you have provided to us because you feel that what we currently have on record is incorrect, and/or you would like those details erased from our records, you can do so by contacting us in accordance with the information provided at ‘further information’ below.

How you can help us protect your information

Please keep in mind that whenever you voluntarily disclose personal information online in non-protected environments – for example on message boards, through email, or in chat areas – that information can be collected and used by others. In short, if you post personal information online that is accessible to the public, you may receive unsolicited messages from other parties in return.
